External Hard Drive Help (IT EXPERTS)
hi peeps, don't know if anyone can help me but about a year ago i purchased an external hard drive, and it has packed up ...............however is there anyway of recovering the data on there, as i have some photo's that i really need....................

How you mean packed up, its a standard drive inside the external box, providing you can find a normal pc with the right connection you should be able to recover stuff.

Its not being picked up in the connections, and it is not spinning up either........
Is that true about the standard drive, because i will strip it tonight and see if it will fit in the tower..............
At work at the mo but when i get home i will describe the problem in more detail thanks for the reply guys....will get back with more info soon

Take it out the box and see if it has standard IDE and power connectors, if so, put it in a normal pc case and see if it spins up. If, it doesn't, then it's fucked m8 and you'll be unable to access it.

There are companies that specialise in getting the data off trashed HD's. Even if it has been torched in a fire they can still get data off it. Off course if its filled with pron you might not want to do that!
