probably a number from when the svs had it checked out and cleared many years ago,if so it wont be the vin number, however if this is the case then there will have been some cause to check it originally so please be cautious, easy way to check is to contact youre local police svs and give them the number, happened a lot with the old Q plates and those not so identifiable cars, buyer beware as they say!!

hav'nt a clue with escoss and not saying i do with owt else, just remember troubles in 90's buying anything remotely sporty and a ford that may have a history without it being marked in some way or another, usual way was to stamp them as to aid roadside and other checks, but also did add others, inc u/v markings to make sure nobody doubled the checked out 1's up,but as 4 escoss then again that is 1 for the guys who know there stuff with them on here, plenty of guys with tons of knowledge with the escoss so you wont go far wrong

just thought on,if it is the chassis no. then it will not or should not have any numbers stamped in the usual places, however if you speak to some of the cossie lads on here then no doubt there will be some other identifiable vin to match up,as with the barcode plate on the 90 3i's in a place outta site, dont wanna worry you but at the same time dont wanna see youre mate getting ripped either, even if its an old 1 from a long time ago, ownership rules still apply, sorry to say.hopefully on the good side then all is ok some help cossie guys please

its a police crime number, the vehicle squads used to stamp them there, we had a few series 2's that had been stamped there. not all police used to stamp them there though, i know staffs and manchester did.

Basically, it means the car has some history with the police.
No reason not to but it though, if all appears in working order and passes all the relavent checks.
