4x4 Running gear and strength??
Thinking of having my tunnel when finished big enough for 4x4 transmission, just in case I decide to go 4x4 instead of 2wd..
whats the 4x4 ( MT75 is it? ) 'box like for stage 3 set up? whats its weaks points?
I know that Davecos4x4 just done a 3rd gear, but would this just be misuse ( ) or just and old box not liking the power?
Cheers Radders

i done 3rd gear just by changing slowly abouy 30mph also done my main shaft at the time
i used to go through gearboxes almost every 2 months and was only running stage 3
wish i spent the money on a quaife or sumthing
the transmission is just too weak
but as said as your car will be lighter it could handle a bit more aslong as its treated nice

How much lighter will it be though?? with all that fabrication work, and the obvious extra weight of the engine/transmission, i bet there wouldn't be much in it?
i'd stick to 2wd with a proper suspension setup for maximum grip

I am going 2wd, this is just incase I go 4x4 , the tunnel will be prepped for 4x4, But i'd just like to know how strong they are
The cars weight , I havent a clue....
Its having an M3 rear diff, BMW Rear beam mated to cage, 20+ point weld in cage, poly windows, all metal panels still, Under bars, and all the interior panels are lightened with no dash, bar a pod for the gauges..
Plus a Cossie lump and a T5 box
Suspension, Is sorted too, Leaving it all to Danny to sort out, I'll let him choose, and I spend

No real paper power figures mate but was on greys with ported head, bd14's , MD240R roller bearing turbo etc......so i would say anywhere between 400-450hp!

Radders - 4x4 gearboxes are very weak. I've gone through a couple and i'm only running about 330-340. Best one i've had last is my Bernie box..I can see your point about the tunnel. For the extra few quid for having it wider might be alright if u decided to change at a later date!
Just transmission costs quite a few quid to upgrade on a 4x4 when upgrading power..
