E36 EVO Vs E46 M3 BMW
So forget about the looks....
I note that a std M3 E46 has around 340bhp....but by the looks the E36 EVO with a superchip gets that BHP too
So i guess engine/performance is the same????
Looking at e46's for 21k but see the older one for like 8k
Is it really down to looks and more modern?
(You can tell i aint no Beemer man)

Get your E46 now then and enjoy it before it gets as common as the E36, then get shot of it and get something else.
Anyways you'll be bored by time you get it home and there will be a post telling us it's for sale and what should you get next

Driven E30 M3 a few times, evo and non evo E36s loads, and an E46 manual round the track at Rockingham.
All things considered, esp money, E36 Evo is my fave, awesome car for what it is, great all rounder, looks the tits in silver with black leather too IMO.
If money wasnt an object then E46, but when they cost 3 times as much, and that much money is a LOT to me, id go for the 36 Evo if I had to have one.

hi ya mate.
i do work for bm and mini and know the guys at sytner, were i live, i wanted an m3 e46 and when i went to buy one, they all told me that the m3 was fast, expensive to run as when it needs disks they are sided and cost around £200 each, and servicing is expensive,
so i bought a 330 ci sport convertible, which wasnt as fast, but told by the mechanics that a good driver in the 330 wouldnt be far behind in a race around town as long as you got a manual 330.
they were right, it was fast and looked almost as good, if not better as like everyone has said, they are common
but drive the two and see for yourself, 330 for me tho and itll be a convertible

Neither, M Coupe, what I originally set out to buy and would've had one if I could've found one that wasn't 300+ miles away and hadn't found the Evo first. Was fortunate to have a drive in one last year and was blown away by it. Rare, fast and handling is sublime. It'll have less depreciation aswell, although the interior was a bit tacky. As for the E46, awesome car and could've had one if I sold the other M but heavy depreciation and having 1 car wouldn't have worked as I pile on the mileage with work
