Default Turbo rebuild versus new one

is it acepatble to simply get a turbo rebuilt, or am i better buying new?

Wheres the best places, or i presume Turboi technics direct is the place to go to???

I used to buy for 6 years from turbo technics and never had one problem at all.


For any rollerbearing units I recommend turbo dynamics.

i've always had mine rebuilt,they are practically new when they come back anyway

Yeah mate, get it rebuilt. TT and Univeral Turbos I've dealt with and have both been spot on

depends, it the wheels are mullered, or cracked zorst housing, or worn bearing housing then u will need a new one.

has anyone had a turbo where the wastegate arm goes real tight even after opening a few times with pliers still sticks??.. t34?

i dont think anything is bent .. was fine when i parked the car up but was 8 months ago.. noticed was tight when i took turbo off so lubed it a bit but after driving a few miles with turbo getting hot has gone tight again..

bit of a shit really as its only done 1k as i brought it brand new from garrett.. no warrenty now as been over a year...

infact the problem with mine was the little coin thing was slack and was hitting the inside of the elbow and causing it to stick.

if you take it off and try and get it a bit tighter it would be fine. but no so tight that it doesnt move. so it can seal onto the housing properly

it all looks like new inside still just basically where the shaft goes through the housing feels as if it needs lube.. is as good as new with a squirt of grease but burns off in seconds... it must have just been where its been sitting for 8 months..
