When you get a window seat on a plane, does it suck if it's right next to the wing? Can you see fuck all?

Firs flight on Tuesday - just looked on expedia's website, and Virgin have allocated me my seat already - and given me a window seat. Which is what I wanted - but it's RIGHT where the wing is

Is that gonna suck?
If so, I could request this seat; (highlighted with red circle)

But it looks like it has loads of room around it - and that MUST be too good to be true

Wing is still cool, but I'd get the seat at the back personally, 2nd best would be row 39 for the room. Mind you, you'll end up having the over wing exit brief and asked if you can manage the weight of the door if the plane stacks it
Be VERY careful though mate, as it looks like from the picture, that the plane is infact broke in half.......I would go for the section by the wing as that is where the engine is and you will need that to fly
@ TiffI half expected this to be about the headlamps on planes again when i read the title
I have had wing seats before and as Phil said they arn't too bad. You don't see much at a zillion miles in the sky anyway appart from white fluffy stuff so i wouldn't worry about it mate

Spadge - headlamps
I was just thinking for take off and landing it'd be nice to see the tarmac that might kill me
As for view - yeah, I was just thinking of it as something to look at, rather than a dirty great bastid wing

But knowing my luck, I'll swap to the other seat and when I get on board I'll be right next to the emergency exit door or something
Thats the point where everyone turns and looks directly at ME in the event of an emergency!
The leg room would be nice tho!

Changed it to the back one..... Hopefully I'll get that seat - prob won't find out till I get to check in on Tuesday tho.....
Just looked on the return flight seat planner - not a single seat left to change to on that one!
Lots of peeps coming into Heathrow that day then.....

Just make sure you get to the airport nice and early. You will get to the desk when the staff are fresh and they are more likely to move you. We always get exit row but have contacts in the know
Also to be honest, you are flying most of the way over sea so the only part of much interest is going to be coming into New York if its clear. Your best bet will be to get a good seat for the return trip so you get to see New York as you climb.
