Lancia Delta or the S1 Quattro. The RS200 was in too few rallies for it to get a real following.
Also I'm not sure its a favourite with the multitude of people it killed and injured

From: Wiltshire, Bath, chippenham area!
The RS200 never actually got proven as a Group B car though
as they never actually got to race the Evo version.
So the S1 quattro is the beast! 650 bhp on a dirt track lol
with people running out the way lol
Although the 205 T16 evo was close!
there is a video called 'Too fast to race' ive seen
some of the footage on there is insane!
says how the drivers needed personal physisans (spelling lol)
at every stop, you see some of them in tears where the pressure is
just too much!!

I think the 205 evo was the most successful actually, the audi S1 was a attempt to reclaim the crown but did not succeed. It was too heavy from what i recall.
Lancia 037 was successful but the mad compound charged S4 never had a proper chance to shine either.
The RS200 never completed a whole season, the 6R4 i think had reliability problems. All were bloody quick and evil looking.
Apparently Audi intended to come back on to the scene with a 1000bhp monster, but the drivers complained it went straight on corners

in my opinion the greatest rally car of all time has to be the Escort MK 2 which has dominated the rallying since being introduced and still wins today against modern machinery

in terms of greatest based on world and domestic stage wins its the impreza in all its guises,

The Audi was the best looking gpB car. The Peugeot 205 T16 was the better car tho imo.
I know everyone loves the RS200 but it wasn't that successful really.
The most successful rally car of all time has to be the Ford Escort?
Mini Coopers rocked in their day tho

Prob this was one of the fastest / greatest for outright speed and pace but fuck me its an ugly looking car
For greatest in overall wins for least amount of money spent has to be the old escorts

If we are talking about Grp B, then it only comes down to 2 cars.
The 205
and the S4
They had what Rallying needed. Short Wheelbase and "enough" power. But massive handling ability. Personally I prefered the look of the Pug.
The Quatty was a triumph of power (and the ability to put it down) but wasnt a very good car dynamically. Problem the RS200 had was lack of time to develop it. It came along very late. The belief is that had Ford got a handle on the car (and Grp B had conticued for a few years) it would wiped the floor.
If you are talking Best car from before Grp B. Then Escort Mk2. Or in WRC times. ITs got to be a close thing between the Impreza/Lancer/Xsara/206 in terms of how many wins these cars have taken over the last decade or so.

the audi kicked off the 4wd scene for us and was awsome, the rs 200 was a pretty car compared to the rest and i love it as well.205 and 6r4 were mental for their size but ive always had a place for the lancia stratos as well, just a change from the norm i thought.

Some quality pics in this thread
Can't pic the greatest one just too hard to say which one, but the Mk2 Escort, Audi Quatro (or any Grp B car bar the Citreon ) and the Mitsu Evo have to be up there. Theres no doubting the Escos's rally ability but its a shame it didn't do all that well on the world stage.
