20K+ Super Poster.
only main concern is your gerbox, they don't do a RWD box with v6 bellhousing (well, they did but its really rare)
2 choices, get some kind of adapter for a T5 box, or build a RWD mt75 by swapping the bits from a 4x4 v6 and a 2wd DOHC box. any competent gearbox place can do this.
also bernie (www.gearboxman.co.uk) sells the boxes already done for kitcar owners.
the rest is the same as the XR4x4 conversion, just easier

find a 24 granny
find a sierra
pull the engine out the the 24 complete with crossmember
get a rwd mt75 box
bolt them together
bolt the whole lot into the sierra
wire it up as per mob's site
job jobbed
or
get fitz to wire it up for you
that said, i've seen him do a drive in and drive out (ok, it was a really rushed job so it didn't look all that) in about 90 minutes from going onto the ramp with a dohc to coming off the ramp (under it's own power) with a 24V

Which is the rare RWD V6 box then? The Capri one? I saw a manual Granny on eBay the other day
Was the one that looks like a bulbous Sierra tho and not a Cossie.

The rare box is a proper ford 2wd mt75 that found it way into a few cars.
In my opinion the mt75 is the best box to use as thats the one ford used for a 2wd escort cossie that was 24v cossie powered and yes it was a one off. Failing that i have the bellhousing for the t5 box to fit.....

you can't use the later boxes as they have different bits on them which don't fit (the selector sticks out of the top rather than the back) so what you need to do is find an xr4x4 box, find a dohc box (cheap as proverbial chips) take the front end of the V6 and bolt it to the back end of the dohc box
swap the input shaft over as well and job jobbed, local gearbox places charges Ł40 to do that, with a rebuild and the longer fifth gear conversion plus a rebuild with the quiafe bits inside it was only Ł550 all in, with new bearings and oils and etc

PassionFord Post Whore!!
MWF it depends how hard you drive, I know a guy who drives like a cunt with a stock 24v in and has blown 5 type 9s so far.
just goto Capri forums and see what they say about the type 9
I had a 2.8 capri with a type 9 and it was shit with a 130 bhp of 2.8 boat anker power.
you need the case top ally thing and I believe a added oil way.
If you drive like a Gay lord AKA Doh you will be fine with T9

tony, i'm looking to 24 the twinkly now, but i want to keep the auto box rather than go manual (it's easier for me ) but all i need is to find a prop, easier to find a sierra auto prop than it is to find a 2.3 manual flywheel

i had owains auto prop so im sorted but they should be easy to find!!
worth looking at the mk3 cortina props as they are shorter and dont have the doughnut!! ow and type 5 gearbox flanges fits type9 and auto box!!
im on to summit really good with these A4DLE box's i can build one to take more power and have a mappable ecu to run it!! can have paddle gear change with 5 or 6 speeds, clever stuff!!!!
with a high stall converter it should be faster than manual to
the xr4i auto should be running very soon, doing the loom now!!
