Mainly precision and general engineering / fabrication .... most people in the same trade seem to moan constantly about being hard up but I don't know anyone in engineering who isn't working at capacity including us ... ...

Lots of competition from the Chinese now as they are so cheap, the quality of their work is normally shit but its slowly getting better which is a bad sign for the UK and also the US engineering sectors.

For me personally things are Just got a nice fat new contact which means I don't need to even think about looking for work (although I will be) for the next five years, at which time I might chuck the whole thing in

On the downside 20 hour days and not sleeping for several days in a row are not uncommon for me

I make ecojoists for the building trade. There's talk of houses being built for the next 20 odd years so my job's safe til i'm 44 years old in theory.

Sorry to hear about your place tho. Especially people of that age.
