very insulted
couple of years ago the guy who was my best man built his own property, so naturally i said i would tile his house for him, F.O.C (he was my best man as i had worked with him for 8 years and we had the same interests etc) any how i tiled the main big bathroom,en suite bathroom, massive kitchen and the big utility room. it took me nearly 3 weeks to complete and i didnt ask for a penny off them, not even petrol money for travelling to and from. i would probably be charging about £1500 for a big house like that. his wifes family own a plant hire, tarmacing, road relaying, well everything to do wid highways really. anyhow ive bought a new house and the drive is a little steepish and i have trouble getting the escos into the drive(just caught deflector and no more, alright wid a couple of bits of wood doesnt catch. i asked them if they could come and sort the kerb out so i could get my escos into the garage without any problems(assumed his wife would sort things for me) any how i aquired the 6 drop kerbs to do the job myself so really they just had to tarmac it. well yesterday his wife came to drop a quote off wid the price of the work which her family were gonna do, i opened it £1000 + vat for the work. so i txt them and told them what i thought about it saying i was very insulted by the cost specially after i done 3 weeks work for them for nothing i got a txt back saying sorry that was the price and there was nothing they could do to lower the price so ive learnt a valuable lesson that nothing comes free now if they want a proffessional service doing they are gonna have to pay the going rate.

being a plasterer myself i got asked a few times by the family to dowork for them, and always say to get another quote first so they actually know wot the jobs worth before i tell them wot i want, theres nothing worse than trying to be nice then getting a big you when you want in return
its not like the old days where you do it for family or friends, they are the worst customer ever, any probs and they are straight on the blower moanin
