Default Car smashed up by uninsured driver

I was driving along minding my own business when I got rammed by a youth on a scrambler today after he flew round a turning onto my side of the road. He smashed into my car and hit another parked car then tried to run off. Fortunately he was trapped under the bike for a few seconds and it gave me enough time to get out and grab hold of him. We had a little wrestle as he treid to get away but there was only going to be one winner. Anyway he hasn't got any insurance or licence and no plates on the bike which was probably stolen although the owner couldn't be traced.

Anyway, this is the damage he caused:

Front near side wing bent, indicator and wiper arm smashed:

Rear near side wing dented:

The pikey chav's bike:

The pikey chav himself (well, he is actually out of site catching his breath in the back of the police van ):

The car is off the road now as it needs the following:

- New 4be bumper
- New RS skirt (i've got a spare in the shed)
- New indicator assembly
- New front nearside wing
- New headlight wiper arm
- New rear nearside wing (or well repaired existing one)

It's going to cost a few hundred at least to repair it and with my wedding coming up in 5 weeks i'm broke so its off the road for the foresable future. Can't see me getting any money from him as he is unemployed and on benefits with no insurance.

I feel sorry for the owner of the blue 206 seen in the photos. The bike hit his car as well and you can see the damage.

Still, its only a car and no one was hurt, not even the chav unfortunately. He hit me at good old speed but he escaped with just cuts and bruises worst luck

If he was an actual pikey, I hope you don't hear anything more about it. Gutted about your car mate. Bike is a mish mash of different mini bike bits. probably made up from loads of stolen bikes.

Thanks for the comments. Would have been fuming if he had managed to run away as these little feekers are so quick. Fortunately I think he was stunned for a few seconds which gave me the edge. He got nicked and spent a few hours in the police cell so at least it inconvienced him a bit and it has confirmed his identity for whatever action I end up taking. Even so, I can't see me getting any money as he hasn't got any.

Bad luck.

hope you get something, even if they stop it out of his doll money.

As you were off duty, does that hold more evidence against him in court? or will you be counted as a normal joe public?

Look for information on the Motor Insurers Bureau,

http://www.mib.org.uk/MIB/en/Claims/Default.htm

unfortunately i had an accident a few years back where my insurance was invalid! and well i'm still paying for it! these are the people that deal with all of it! they pay up to you, then the scumbag has to pay them back at whatever amount he can afford down to Ł5 a week minumum, i ended up paying Ł6500 after misreading a set of lights and smashing my mint mk1 orion into a mk4 golf! still paying now! Hope that Helps mate!

Thanks for all the comments and the useful links. I'm going to try the MIB tomorrow.

Anyway, I thought when I smashed my car up it would doing something cool like sliding round a roundabout and losing it and writing it off on a lampost, or rolling it 5 times on a track day.

Ive just LOVE the ways the worded.

Just got to deal with this unimportant wedding business, then i can get back to the stuff that matters

As above, nice one for catching the little fucker, sadly no doubt the police will do fuck all with him and will just go back to pesecuting motorists who arent doing anything wrong but have jobs to pay fines with

At least you and the 206 driver werent hurt, thats the main thing, shame that the little twat didnt break his legs in the fall or anything!

Yeah, these people lead charmed lives. If it was you or I we'd be brown bread by now.

The Police have reported him for no insurance and no licence but I've done a full statement detailing his driving so hopefully they can add a cheeky little 'dangerous driving' on top.

The strange thing is I don't feel that pissed off, I guess because I caught him. I would have been fuming if he'd got away but he was just too slow getting out from under the bike

The owner of the 206 wanted to break his legs and I don't blame him as he's just lost his no claims bonus without even being in the car. Still at least he will get paid out, I'm third party fire and theft so won't get a penny. Just got to hope the MIB can come through with some cash.

You two should have broken his legs and then backed each other up that it happened as part of the accident.

Although if he is a pikey that would probably have meant you getting your car torched, cowardly bunch of bastards always get their mates to do their dirty work it seems

With the MIB there is an excess of some amount Ł150 or along those lines. A similar thing happened to me, but I didnt bother claiming in the end.

Well done for catching them tho!

When i was with direct line insurance they stated you didnt lose your no claims bonus when an uninsured driver was at fault for the accident.

How old was the guy, because thats a kids scrambler. Looks like a big wheel 80cc.

He was 19 and about 6'0" but these rat boys are always quite scrawney from too many ciggies and no excercise. I can't remember if the bike looked too small for him as I only saw him on it for a fraction of a second before the collision.
