Minimum head height AFTER machining is 138.68mm (between mating faces)

Maximum material removal is 0.13mm

From workshop manual.

lol i see its a stupid question i take it its just im sure i was told you can only skim the head once due to compression, just wondered if thats true, but now you mention it i suppose it depends on wot was taken off before

Yes, but the squish area (in the combustion bowl area in the head) is important, as is the meat left around the valve seats as a result of 'losing' part of the squish area.... there's a fairly detailed thread somewhere re: this, I'll see if I can find it.

Found: https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=105670 (Gold members only)

Patto, taken from Haynes, so I'd double check with a tuner if you can:

Escort 1.6 CVH

Max distorion over entire head: 0.15mm
Minimum combustion chamber depth after skimming: 19.60mm
STD compression ratio: 8.3:1

Spadgeroo, RichM mentions 139.2 (when new) on the Tech Essay thread... above.

mine was 139.2 as Bill says, but 139.1 or 139.2 makes little odds, I'd expect manufacturing spread to span that amount.
