I would say that a World Cup crossmember is a worthwhile mod on a road car, basically it stops the engine moving under fast cornering, and if you are running a Pinto then that is a lot of weight moving about as they weight about 21 stone, more if they are on twin carbs.
(I know this because my mate used to race Superstocks and he weighed his on a pair of bathroom scales.... and that was on a single 38dgas)
I've got a WC X-member on my Anglia and although you would never say... ooh thats my engine moving there as you go round a bend at high speed, after fitting the crossmember it certainly did improve the cars handling.

what do you mean by "standard mounts" - the whole point of a WCXM is that it has WC mounts too that hold onto the engine properly... I can't see how you can have one with "standard" mounts, it's a whole different design
