Do you think my mate can sue?
Basically a mate of mine went into the motorists centre in Jan (normal cold jan day) wearing a leather puffa and a hat. Was looking at the spotlights told the assitant he was ok when asked for help, and said just checking prices etc, cos i need to get em pro fitted anyways so just working costs out etc etc. Anyways 6mths later he gets nicked by the bill cause the motorists centre accused him of stealing a set of spotlights. Ther only proof is
He was looking at them, and later when we checked we noticed a box was missing, Thats it, no other proof. Obviously he was marked when he walked in, co s they noted his Reg number. He's thinking of sueing cos he was arrested etc and everything chuckedin the back of the police car taken to the staiton etc. Lucky he has proof he bought another set and has the receipt etc but thats not the point tho is it,

Break his windows, then his legs. Then whilst he is crying like a baby on the floor you can use some of the tools on display to attempt your own interpretation of chinese torture.
Just make sure you flip the sign on the door to "closed" on the way in

They haven't got a leg to stand on!
To arrest a shoplifter you have to actually see them take the item and attempt to remove them from the premises.
I know of half a dozen theiving coonts who've nicked stuff from my shop - I didn't catch them at it so cant do a thing about it. (Legally !)
Unless they have clear CCTV footage of your mate taking them then SUE!!!!!!!
I wouldn't brick the windows though....How fooking obvious will it be who did it?!

Well what u can actually do is sue for wrongfull arrest, defamation of character and compensation for the stress this has caused, you can also have a written apology from the company published in a local newspaper. See a solicitor do not take advice from the "LAW EXPERTS" on here unless one can show you his LLb & hons certificate or Bar Exam/licence to practice law.
or u can brick his windows, get caught, get up to six months in prision. and end up up with nothing to show for u doing nothing wrong except a criminal recors which will prevent u from having a good job and entry to most non eu countries.

On the one hand, anyone wearing a leather puffa and hat at ANY time of the year should be arrested and beaten till they promise never to do it again.
On the other hand, I can't believe the cops would be interested in a shoplifting allegation 6 months after the event but I suppose, referring back to my original point, if he was wearing that outfit in my shop I'd have the cops on him every week - eventually they are bound to find something!!
