Just had a race/fun with a m3csl there on my local dual-carrigeway , i was in my friends sierra cosworth (380bhp) the m3 was fast and sounded awesome !!!!
We had a head start of about 50 yards and over 2 miler stretch to next roundabout he was side by side with us , loved the sound man , was just awesome !!! the guy was a good sport too , just came that road for a blast to see what it could do , he waved and headed back the way it came lol!!!

Scoobynet are the same, any kind of race post they start getting all excited and call you a chav, yet if you have a P1 scoob with 400hp and have a sly race with a cossie its fine.

reducing exhaust noise
hi guys,
is there any way of reducing your exhaust note without adding mufflers etc... Would wrapping the back box in anything help reduce noise?
thanks

Not sure about wrapping the back box in anything (is that safe?). You could try to Dynamat the interior of the boot. Total BMW had a feature on an M5 that had a really loud exhaust and this was the solution that was used to good effect.

cheers jags, i read that and was going to do that for the noise reduction inside. I was just wondering if it could be reduced from the outside as it attracts a bit off attention when i put my foot down, and that not even all the way, it's a new hamman exhaust, maybe it'll quieten down after a bit when its settled in . Where can i get that mat from for the boot?
thanks

Im guessing if the exhaust is pretty new it will settle after a while. The magnex i had on my old 318 was really loud at first then after a month or two it started to go quieter on its own.
You could probaly get the dynamat from any car audio place or get them to order it for you. However, not sure if it comes in rolls or seperate sheets. I heard that a home made alternative is to use some thin loft insulation! But dont hold me to that as i've never used it!

Sorry mate I hate to pi$$ on your chips, but zorst usually get louder with age. Performance exhausts have a straight through construction and therefore use the absorbtion method for silencing. As it gets sooted and coked up. It may well get slightly louder still

You can use roof repair 'flash tape' as a cheap sound deadening.

I have to say BMW Owners dont use forums, they consider it beneath them!!!! LOL
I have a 735i (the ultimate old mans car), and as you may recall have been looking into changing it. I am persuaded by your arguments to get an M3, though you find anywhere on the internet to give you info on them like you get on cossies etc here!!!! Takes the frigging p*ss!!
Still, not the cars fault.
Must get my exhaust quietened on the Cossie, it is really playing hell with the loud as hell live porn.

Depending on how dirty I suppose, but I used MER upholstery cleaner, and a good old fashioned scrubbing brush. Carpets came up lovely.

I've had good results with a few different cleaners even plain old washing up liquid.
The important thing is don't get the carpet too wet. Wipe carpet over with a damp sponge, use nail brush and soapy water to scrub the carpet then use a dry cloth to wipe the carpet as dry as possible then leave all the doors/windows open to dry out.
obviously a nice hot summers day is the best time to do it.

Autoglym Fabric Stain Remover
Clean nail brush, vac, clean carpet
Always test in area where any bleeding
can be seen. If all's okay, get spraying
and scrubbing.

I cleaned my car last summer and is in desparate need of a re-clean (why are kids so messy???)
Anyway I hired out a professional carpet cleaner from my local HSS Hire type shop!
Was Ł40 (+Ł80 deposit which was returned when I returned a clean machine!)
The carpets were rank! I never realised what colour they were supposed to be! Money very very well spent!! - It was immaculate! - Well worth taking out the front seats tho, make the task so much easier!
Wait for a hot day tho, leaves the car damp, it was mid august when I did my car but it only took 4-5 hour to dry fully!!

This is one of the reasons my 3 series was so short lived (14days iirc ).
I know BMW drivers aren't all bad though. Had some proper tussles with them on various dual carriageways. What makes me laugh is why the twats with 320's and an "M" badge stuck on think they can take on anything on the road. Mind you their faces as they suddenly realise they are actually slow ass is amusing
