Default Quick question, 4x4 cossie turbo feed.....

....pipe, does the oil feed come from the block as standard??

i know that on a 2wd the feed is under the inlet manifold in the block, along with the pressure switch

but a mate rang me today saying his head was cracked around the oil feed hole???

he sent me a pic of it and it looks like it is coming from the head,on the exhaust side.

i thought that the feed came from the exhaust side of the block,in a similar position to the 2wd (opposite side obviously)

Anyone wanna clear this up for me

Your mate is correct. It comes from the exhaust side of the head on a 4wd.

thanks Stu, never even looked at it on a 4x4 tbh, so was a little surprised by the pic

ah well, his head needs to come off cos it's cracked around the hole and pissing oil everywhere

and while i have your attention Stu, earlier Spadge posted about exhaust manifold gaskets,it appears mine are the wrong way around ( shiny side towards head) should this be rectified asap,or is it something that won't make much difference

Ta buddy

Stu

excellent news will be my extra horsepower mod that nobody else has

having a little bad luck at the mo, my turbo oil return hose split whilst i was driving with the missus, dropped about a litre and a half of oil out of my freshly built engine (only done 200 miles)

luckily i was driving very very steadily at the time before and during so shouldn't have done any damage

Spadge has sent me one F.O.C

what a star i'll happily help push your car back off the line at Pod mate, when the diff goes

Mate i know what its like when one of those hoses splits!
It happened to me at the Shakespear raceway last year and by the time they had cleared all the oil off the track the heavens opened and the track was shut for the day! Obviously i wasn't too popular
Heed the note i put in with the pipe and it shouldn't happen again fella
As for my car and the Pod, the question is which car My engine is all done and ready to fit but i now have 2 saffs to put an engine in and i think this may be going in the moonstone one. Still got to do a few miles once its in before any thought of a caning down a strip so i need a break in the weather over the next couple of days and it should be ready
