I want this built in 5mm steel to mount my diff to my rally car floor. How hard is it to weld something like this, seeing as Ive done the hard work, someone just has to copy my template.

If I dont get a resonable quote soon I will be welding it myself
Where can I get 5mm plate from and a Mig welder too?

It's extremely easy to do - as long as you have the right equipment! For metal just look under metal stockholders in the Yellow Pages, you can hire welders too.

I remember seeing a welded mild solid diff hanger on eBay not that long ago.. have to admit it look really nasty though

He did my original one, which if I still have it, yuo can have (although my diff was completely different to yours.

He should be able to knock something up for good money, especially with a little model like that - very neat

I got a quote from Zoo, he needed the car for 2days to do that and Gearbox mount, which I cant do yet

I have had a few offers on here now to fabricate the bracket thanks everybody for your help, there are a couple of concerns though;
1, the use of just 2 stud and nuts isnt ideal and further dowls were apparenty used to locate the original diffs in the chassis?? there are holes for this on the shell
Also
2, the strenghthening supports may not be needed, anybody confirm or deny this? It will be made in 6mm Steel, will a 90deg bracket be sufficient strong without?

RichardPON, yeah that bracket would be most helpful if it never went with the 10"diff, if Brom thinks it was fine just bolting a flat plate across, Im sure it will be strong enough as its triangulated across the solid beam mounts and diff doesnt sag much without a bracket at all

I had to build it as the car is stored a couple of mile away with no running gear on, no diff to take measurements from, and an unusual/non standard mount, wasnt a bad guess from what reference measurements I had from the diff at home and beam already on the rally car. 5mm out on the mountin face of the diff, so elongating the M12 mounting holes will do the job

And I had to be sure it fitted, no excuses no blame... unless of course the finished item wont fit when its fabricated and fitted on the diff, in which case I will erase this post
