I know its not the same, but the McLaren F1 road car does the 1/4 in around 11 seconds, so 9 seconds for the proper F1 car sounds feasible.

Getting it off the line correctly would be the deciding factor as to whether its a good time or a bad time.

well if they can do 0-100 in 3.5-4seconds, i dont think thats a problem

My guess, from that time, would be an 8, at 170mph+

If i recall correctly it was:

0mph - 125mph then back to 0mph took 7.4 seconds.

I'd love to meet the people who don't think thats fast

Yes, but that wasn't the 1/4 mile time I might be wrong, but everyone thought it was going to be 6 second mark and it was nowhere near.

pmsl, when big time dragsters do it in 5 at over 300mph.... I'd say 8's.

Thin Jensen did it in 8.6 or something? I dare say if they were pushed they could do it in a quicker time, he was barely launching it.. but I don't think its very easy to launch a 700hp RWD lightweight car lol.

`97 Stewart F1 Car will do 8.60 @ 147MPH quarters ( 0-60 = 3seconds, 0-100 = 4.6 seconds)

I would expect newer F1 cars (or at least the last of the V10's) would be quicker, especially the better funded teams with more powerful engines, the Zytec-R used in the Stewart car was only about 700BHP.

There's also a ex-F3000 (Lola T90/50) car with a Cossie DFR motor in it which is used as a sprint car which does 0-60 in 2.2, 0-100 in 4.21 and the quarter in 8.44 @ 148mph. Thats with only 600BHP

I saw this test, against the bike and boat....... If I remember correctly, buttons time was 9.3 sec,for the quarter mile.

The problem is that up to about 100mph,the F1 car couldn't put down full power, until the aerodynamics started to work properly.

I suppose on sticky slicks,on a drag strip,it would do much better!

0-100 in 1.2 is quicker / as quick as a 7000bhp nitro-methane burning top fuel dragster.. those figures must be wrong!

The 8.6@147mph is a 100% factual figure - not something I heard somewhere or something I vaguely remember but I would expect the last of the V10's with near on 200+ BHP more than the old Zytec-R powered Stewart car would be a little quicker over a 1/4 of a mile but I have no certain figures for them... would guess at low to mid 8's though

thier launch control might help this unforseen problem should it become a problem
