Theres 2 type of field of vision test. 1 type is look into a box and you have to call out the number of lights that are lit up, the other type is the brightness of lights in a box.

You wont be able to cheat the test, they will know if either your guessing at the lights or its something you cant see.

Just out of interest mate, when did they test you? I only ever got tested when I took my test and then again when I did a driving course.

The reason I had to have a test is because i'm a diabetic, I have to renew my licence every three years. Usually DVLA send me the forms I fill them in and send them back they send me a new licence. This year for some unknown reason they said I had to have this test.

I don't expect payment to be an option, I wish it was

I don't know if this affects your eyes, so please don't think I'm being funny, but will your sugar levels have an effect on the test result? If so, are you able to make sure you are as close to perfect as possible when you have to do the re-test?

Sugar levels do affect your eyes. I have had lazer treatment on them which hasn't helped me. but I dont agree with the results of the first test. Which is why I am having another one done even though I have to have it done privatleyand pay for it myself. Driving is everything to me, my work and my social life.

If I thought I was a danger to anyone even you I would not want to drive, but i'm not.

harsh?i dont think so at all,if someone has failed an eye test, then asks how to fake the next one so he can get back on the road,im sorry,i dont care if he's michael schumacher and sebastian loeb rolled into one,if he cant see properly he shouldnt be on the road, unfortunate but im afraid thats the way it is. i stand by my earlier statement 100% if he has to pass a test to drive then he should pass it to drive, its a safety issue, nothing personal!

No contact lenses wont sort out this problem. I dont have an actual vision problem which is what contacts and glasses would put right My vision is good for driving its my periphary vision that DVLA have picked on, its where when you look ahead you should have a 180degree view, I dont understand why I failed because I can see my hands beside my head, that is why I am having a second test. I guess there is a chance that the machine that was used at Specsavers was at fault. hopefully the second test will prove that. I will be having the next test done in the proper department at the hospital. I really don't want to be back on the road if I do have a problem but the thought of never driving again is really stressing me out.

I have an impairment called Kerrataconus, a corneal problem.
Can this be fixed using lazer surgery do you know?
