Default help finding a good capri.

Hi all,

Well here is my first post.

It's my dads 50th birthday soon and I would like to buy him a Capri (He has always wanted one) but i have no idea what to look for or where to look for a nice one??

Does anyone know of somebody selling one? I suppose I would also consider buying one that needs restoration cause he would have to do the work himself but i'm sure he would enjoy it!!

I'm all new to Capri's so go easy on me

Thanks in advance for any input,

Jim.

Default Capri's

2.8 injection special or a 280 brooklands would be the one to go for, getting old now so finding a clean one is a challenge

Absolutely - the only ones to go for. Found one for sale yesterday, 280 Special with 46k miles, 2 owners for Ł3950 in the back of Performance Ford. If you want the number PM me and I'll send it on.

Get a 2.8i mate. They are the ones with power steering. That's a good thing in a car like that lol.

The regular 2.8s are not that hard to find, although they're not entirely easy either.

Well, I'm not an expert Jim, but we've had a few recently. (now dried up though, sorry).

Things that potential owners seem concerned about (all of ours have been okay thankfully ) :
Rotten Inner wings
Rotten Strut tops
Cracked Dashboard
Rotten Battery Trays
Rust around windows hidden beneath rubbers

A bit that gets overlooked a lot is the area above the door hinges, seen some with belting great holes there, but I guess that's sortable.

Mechanically, we've had no problems with any of the ones we've had, despite the ages of some, they've been in surprising condition. Seems the majority of the crap ones have gone to the great scrapyard in the sky...
