All the genuine Escort Cosworth's were built by Karman in Germany to a very high standard.
You say the seller has Ford receipts for all new parts I somehow doubt that this is the case..............To build any Ford with all NEW parts would cost an absolute fortune.......i.e. not viable/worth the expense.......I would advise that your mate should be looking at those receipts VERY carefully!

He has just rang him there and he says the engine was even brand new from ford with the receipt to show,Doug I dont suppose u could give me a ball park figure for just how much it would cost to build up.
Billy told him that he had been on here and people have said his escort aint worth that and it nearer 11k, and he said he may move a bit with cash billys way but he paid 14k for the car from a garage last summer.
Surely that says to me if a garage is selling it for 14 then it must only be worth 11 privately cause they always add a couple of grand on top for the sake of it dont they
More input would be appreciated

To build now from all brand new parts from ford if there were atainable would be in the region of £50-60K.
If its hand built it means it is a form of kit car rather than the genuine factory built to factory standards.
The M5 would be my favour of transport anyway......................
At least if he buys a proper reg escos, he has a lot more chance of selling it on in the future without too much depreciation, unlike the kit one he is looking at.
just my opininon.

I think this may be the same car that was for sale at a traders local to me last year
If it is, tell your mate to look VERY carefully at the Near side rear panel and underneath as the one I saw had some BAD paint and welding on the rear panel
In my opinion, if your mates got £14k to spend on a car go and buy one that he is in NO doubt about.
I'm sure some smart arses will come on and say "But it was probably built better than a normal Cossie as it's newer blah blah blah" but the fact of the matter is, if there's this much doubt about it just walk away as when he comes to sell it, he'll get EXACTLY the same reaction

It's like anything to do with RS' though mate, tell him to take his time and don't rush into anything
If he's happy with that car and the deal he's getting, well it's up to him at the end of the day and in my experience no-one ever fucking listens when you try and give them sage advice anyway

The problem is, the car could be absolutely mint, built perfectly in every way, but the value is dictated by how easily it will sell when your friend comes to sell it on. The comments you see here are exactly what your mate will be having to deal with when he comes to sell it.

Monte 087
Its not a nice example at all, it was in junction 28 when my mate bought his monte from there they had around 13 escos in at the time aswell and i would have said it was the worsed out of the lot, badly painted, front bumper doesnt fit badly fitted front wings, rear arches look like there full of filler etc etc i could go on not worth anywhere near 14.5k imo.

well we travelled half way down the country and you boys were right it was the one the forecourt that Paddy mentioned and yes the previous owner was Junction 28
The car had been whacked on the passenger rear side and I could get my finger out the water seal on the boot lid
Doors didnt match up lines with shell
Actually been welded alright underneath
Didnt pull well at all for 280bhp
Lad paid 14k to Jct 28 for it in summer
