I read a disturbing story on MSN News the other day about how the government are already discussing the prospect of 350,000 deaths in the UK and how that would be beyond existing resources, which would result in the use of mass graves. Reading stuff like that makes it all sound very worrying.
I'm sure things aren't that serious, but was not a nice story to read.

Its still only 0.5% of the population if the maximum predicted fatalities occur.
In the big scheme of things thats not really a long term problem. Also remember that even if it mutates its mainly old, very young and ill people who will be most at risk so most of us won't be in serious danger.
Remember these figures are all worst case.

guy, PLEASE stop buying intpo the media "lets blow something out of all proportiions because weve got nothing bettw#er to write about" thing.
if it was HUMAN flu we might have something to fookin panic about
there are FAR more dangerous diseases out there that we CAN catch, and are more likely to catch, now an influenza strain that we can't even pass on to others is NOT something we should fookin panic about
you gotta love the sun eh?

Talk about media hype. Bird flu is nothing new, there are outbreaks in the bird population all the time.
There was an outbreak in Norfolk a few years ago but was not deemed news worthy.
Bird flu cannot kill you. The big hype is that the bird flu virus will combine with a human flu virus and create a mutant virus that we will have no immunity to. Then you would have just the same chance of dying as if you contracted normal flu. So unless you are a child, in poor health, or very old, don't worry.
Typical of this country to panic people and go overboard, the rest of the world must laugh at us.
