Hi Mate,

I am also looking into the same thing. The current consensus is that RAC Trackstar is superior to Tracker. You can also move from one car to the next.

Just to be clear, that is the feedback I get from people in the audio/security trade.

Thanks Diable. I already have a Tracker on one of my cars and its never been a problem... thankfully never needed it! but I think I will go with the Trackstar. I like the way they call you on your mobile and stuff if it goes walkabout.

Trackers website is down as well.... hardly filling me with confidence!

any good fitters in Essex area??

I know with navtrak, its gps based and if you car is being driven with out your authorisation navtrak will phone you to ask if you have authorised it.

If not authorised you phone the police get a reference number then let navtrak tell the police where your car is, they can even tell your breakdown where you are if you breakdown in the middle of nowhere

Or if you forgot where you parked your car they can tell you

as above, the GPS only ones come down to their knees if they are put in a building or a container!!! the tracker one (even with the gps option - a la horozon) still has a tracker radio beakon the same one as tracker monitor as a backup

also... you can move both form car to car....

and if you move rac trackstar they reset your subscription.... so if you just paid your 120 and you swap cars you have to pay again...

Dunno what you think to this, but I have just started fitting BOX TELEMATICS at work- they have a website.

I am unsure of the costs at the mo apart from its a pound a day subscription.

From your account YOU can track the vehicle from any internet PC terminal.
It gives you mileage, speed, locations on a map and times the vehicle moves, all stops and starts and prob loads more as work are quite secrative about it because I have one in my car... but from asking them its pretty shit hot.

Uses Orange GPRS and a GPS locater and is hidden away quite nicley, obviously depending on the vehicle, the box its self is about the size of a cd box but as thick as 3 or 4.

Also as well it tells you if the battery feed is disconected and the back up battery will last about 5 hours... I know that aint a massive about but I know thats pretty accurate- I disconected one on friday and it only sent the parking signal for 5 hours before it died.

Friend uses this system on all of his prestige hire cars, runs 911`s,Ferrari`s etc.......Seems excellent, you have full control by phone and it`s also monitored AND it phones you direct as well...

Not the cheapest but certainly one of the best....
