What you can't quite see is the SAAB 9000 intercooler on the front. The car made a bit over 150bhp with increased boost and fuel, was a brilliant conversion.

You'll find some info on it at www.mwstewart.co.uk

thats a damn nice fiesta you have there mate! what did your car start out as? do you reckon that lump wil drop in mine? my mate lee said about putting an rs turbo intercooler on the front and using the fuel pump out of the mondeo engine and it should run fine with no other changes!
damn, your fiesta really is a beauty! fair play mate!

Thanks for that My car was originally a 1.8 Diesel, then 1.8 Endura DE TDI, and is now a 1.8 Zetec Turbo. 50bhp -> 150bhp -> 230bhp, soon to be 250bhp

Yeah you use the original Mondeo fuel pump, Fiesta gearbox, Fiesta clutch etc, it's all pretty easy. Mine had a de-catted XR2i exhaust system mated to the Mondeo TDI downpipe, and was running 1.4 bar boost. I'd suggest around 18psi for a solid upgrade, with the fuelling adjusted to match.

How much did you pick your 1.8 Endura lump for? (if you dont mind me asking) i am looking at an rs body kit and everything, if things go as i want thme mine should look similar to yours. Dont think i will get insured on a zetec turbo lump though! well my dad is a proffesional mechanic so i am sure he will sort out sumthing lol. So just got to keep the standard clutch + gearbox. just change engine and fuel pump + get a cossie/rs intercooler!

I think the engine was about Ł350 from a scrapyard. As I said, check the link I gave you and follow it through to the 1.1 to 1.8 TDI conversion page. The guy who owns that website performed the conversion on his own car, and I then bought the whole lot off him and swapped my engine for his at his house.

You may also want to follow this thread, as the guy on there is doing the same conversion to his Fiesta at the moment. That should help you out a lot and give you an idea of what you need:

http://www.fiestaturbo.com/forums/vi...064ad82080e692

Here is my original thread from when the conversion was carried out almost two years ago:

http://www.fiestaturbo.com/forums/vi...ght=conversion

You'll find the lonnng thread of my Zetec Turbo conversion if you click my sig picture on the Fiestaturbo.com website. Hope that lot helps!

The standard NA diesel is great for a first car. They run 50mpg bare minimum whether you're in town or cruising at 85mph. They don't break, not enough power to break themselves, but aren't as slow as people would assume. Easy on insurance and fuel, perfect first car. Also, the diesel's tend to have clear nearside rear quarter panels around the filler cap, whereas 85% of the petrol cars rot away there very badly.

You would need to tell your insurance company of the power increase, and notify the DVLA of the new engine number. Engine capacity is the same as your current engine.

Thanks The TDI's strong points were economy and in-gear acceleration. 0-60 took somewhere around 9 seconds I think, though possible a bit more or less, I never timed it properly. The lack of revs (remember the diesels will only rev to about 4,000rpm before power drops off very fast) means they are not fast sprinting from first gear.

I had a friend with a 130bhp Mk2 Golf, and racing to 40mph from a standstill saw him hit the top of first gear where I had already had to change gear twice! Acceleration in third, fourth and fifth gear is just brilliant, with all that torque. Very good overtaking car

Not a bad choice, there's a lot to get used to when you're new on the roads, the 1.8 diesel's the perfect first car in my opinion, it served me very well!

You may enjoy this thread too on that note. The evolution of my car from standard to how it is now

It's Mmo you fool! Paul put the earlier Escort TD lump in his rather than the Mondeo Endura DE TDI, which meant he had to modify the brake bar and other things to clear the turbo etc. This conversion was (a) easier and (b) provides more power

Welcome to the forum Lee

Bit of advice, rather than drag up a 2 year old thread and ask a question(even though its on a similar subject) you'd be much better off making a new thread to ask, you will get much quicker replys
