Default AGH think i may have a problem with my RS.

As its been a decent day i thought to myself. i will give it a clean and a run.

So i gave it a clean then took it to get some petrol. Before i got home trouble struck.

Luck i had a camera on me at the time as i was gonna pull the car by the lake to take some piccys.

here is the pics. ist few of the car looking nice and clean after my efforts this morning

And the slight problem which i have come up with lol

im a little gutted to say the last. I think im facing 2 options. what do u people think.

1. Sell the car as it is. Its mint with loads of history. So even in its poorly state i should be able to get a bit for it.

2. Bang a new standard engine in her. Does anyone know of any decent blocks for sale atm

Source a second hand bottom end. Strip it and build it up with new bearings, rings ets and then get it in there. You can be back on the road and have a nice fresh car again.

Looks minty mate be a shame to get shot just cos a rod felt the nedd to make a dash for freedom

Well worth fixing I'd Say........

You won't get anywhere near what it's worth with a knackered engine in it, or selling it as a rolling shell.

Get yer ovies on, and get it done...............

that looks in excellent condition. defo get a new engine sorted & keep it going. its not the engines that are problems with these its the shells. so if u still love rsts and get rid of that one, u made end up with a shitt*r

that looks very tidy mate, mines the opposite, good motor, bodywork is shagged, going to break mine keeping engine etc and save up some money and hunt high and low for a mint standard one then transfer the good bits tastefully. rebuild it mate i would source another block maybe get a zetec bottom end in there...

I have to say, though, you are inaccurate there. White one's look hardest. They tend to be fastest too.

Agreed, i've owned 3 black S2's, but won't go back from my white one

Anyway....back to the topic...how the fook did you manage that! You must have been seriously ragging that and/or that engine had serious issues somewhere.....you can still see the steam coming from the hole in the block in that pic!

A rebuilt bottom end wouldn't cost you any more than Ł1500 I would have thought. Painful I know, but at least you know you have a good one then.

I imagine that we could rebuild your engine for that kind of money. Would need a donor engine though.

Yes, I reckon that price would cover new Mahle's.

The bottom end would be checked/machined/bored, most probably lightened and balanced too. Top quality bearings, Ford gaskets/seals etc.
