Default Ebay question - Why..............

Do people put in their listings 'I reserve the right to remove this item as it is advertised elsewhere etc etc....' When you have the right to do that anyway Also when you email somebody and ask how much they want for something they say they want to let the auction run its course and don't have a figure even though they write the above at the end
Puzzles me

Totally agree do your fucking head in why advertise something with extras in the small print ask them how much and say bid me FFS they must have a price in mind otherwise they would not offer it for bloody sale

Its even worse with all the muppets only advertising stuff as its free listing day Several ads i have read saying 'only listed to test the water as its free listing day item may be removed and i reserve the right to do so....... Reminds me of the people who advertise their house for sale but have no intention of selling it
Anyway moan over lol

I know exactly what you mean mate!
Recently "won" a T5 gearbox in Cornwall. Sent an email to seller "can I have your full address to send the cheque to? You tell me when cheque has cleared, I get TNT in to collect, etc....
He emails back "Sorry, sold outside of ebay. less than 12 hours to go, can't withdraw item, etc, etc...

Yep, I put the message up to stop idiots E-mailing asking why it was removed etc

Its not always because the item sold for cash elsewhere why the listing was removed. Could be because the items get nicked, damaged, lost, etc etc

You should have complained to Ebay if you WON the item. He's obviously not happy with the price it reached, so gave it a cock and bull story.

Only way people like that learn is with a negative feedback and reporting them to Ebay.

or because the item didn't make the sort of money one was hoping for

Yep, Like i said with the gearbox.

I sell hundreds of car parts on Ebay each week, I never accept offers on the side or sell away from Ebay if its still listed on there.

I only do this out of principal, because i hate it when its done to me. Like waiting a week for something i really need and is rare, then finding out its been taken down etc

Prevention is better than cure my friend

The amount of e-mails i get from members regarding other items i'm selling, it gets very confusing....I'd rather no one E-mailed to ask in the first place

Hope this doesn't constitute 'Advertising'

Flat week this week, That's why there's not much on ATM. But when the weather picks up we'll be on 100-150 things a week

Feedback means nothing, I'm still waiting on 65 feedback, and there's another 40 which expired after 3 months.

Not every one leaves feedback, and TBH, i couldn't care less.

I have first refusal on ANY parts from a scrapyard that i want, So if i wasn'tsuch a lazy shit, i'd have much more parts than i list

Whatever mate but 150 odd feedbacks in over a year doesn't bode well if your selling hundreds of parts a week

Ok so maybe a slight exageration, but still getting 80 parts on a week average, so only 20 shy of a hundred

Waiting till the spring to go all out on 300+ items a week. A lot of ford stuff aswell

I don't like being teased Its like i got nothing to prove, but i still try to prove it

Anyway, the aim is not to have loads of items, the aim is to get high value items on in small numbers. More money, less fucking about.

I always mail them and ask where its advertised and how much is it advertised for and then say... 'Right I'll buy it from there then....'

Often its a 35p card in their local newsagents....

Puzzles me
i think they just see it in other peoples listings, and basically just "follow" the trend

so, how many feedbacks have people got? whos got the most?

thats after fees aswell.
You seem to start a few items at £5.00. Try starting them at £4.99. It should save you 15p on insertion fee's each time which when added up with all the items should knock a little bit off the fees each month

Also may be worth timing your auctions so they finish between 7ish and 10ish PM. Since I started doing that a few years back I seem to get a lot more bids on my stuff
