Default advice on this strage gearbox leak

i filled my gearbox up with oil and noticed a small leak from under the drivesahft.
there used to be something bolted around the gearbox

the left of this was in the box and it had a round bit that bolted to the box. but i cant find this at the moment to take a picture. the right had side bolted to the engine. i think its some kind of equal length drive shaft set up off a cavalier but im not 100%

this is the box with the drive shaft in. the holes round the shaft is where the above part used to bolt to. the red on the bottom of the bolt in the bottom hole is gearbox oil where it has leaked through. it only has 1 litre of oil in it so far and im guessing it will come out the higher holes with more oil in it.

do you think it will be ok just to stick some bolts in the holes with ptfe tape on them to seal them up or do u think that would be good and safe enough?

That equal length shaft would normally just slot into the box and the bracket would fit on to the back of the engine block.

It will be your driveshaft seals leaking which is very common , not difficult to change my shafts out ofcourse.

I would use some sealer in that bolthole if its leaking that bad

i think ive just found the bit on autovaux.
http://www.autovaux.co.uk/StockList.asp?carID=44&cat=54

its 10quid cheaper than it is in vauxhall

i thought the bolts were just to hold the equal length drive shaft on. but since found out that the metal caseing is to hold the seal in place.
do you think it might just be leaking because the bolts arnt in to pull the seal housing up tight?

I would atleast try putting some bolts in there first as might sort it.

less hassle than having to take the shafts out
