yes it is crude..... i looked at this conversion and it also only suits an auto gearbox which is no good for anyone imo

Have a look at this... a few pics of Charlie Shaws Focus (that Andy built), i have a few build pics of it as well if you want to see them.

urrrr ummm ... don't think a T5/T56 box is gonna fit without some floor pan/bulk head adjustment, you seen a std focus floor pan?

If you have any picks of a focus without a modified floor and a T5 id love to see them

Err, C4 autoboxes etc are much bigger than the manual ones IIRC, so i still dont understand your point about it only suiting the autobox

the pics i've seen of the auto box fitted to that V8 focus conversion show it to be a lot smaller that a T5 (some guy on here had one and still had to mod the bulk head from what i can remember)

My point is that the web site says 'NO' welding necessary, but to fit a T5 box I can't see for the life of me how you'd get away with NO floor/bulk head mods i.e. welding

Hence, i'd be interested to see pics of such a box in a focus with no floor mods ........................

The Web site shown above has/had not done a conversion, they took their information from the U.S site, where it's described as a bolt in conversion, no welding.

The U.S guys do cut the transmission tunnel and boot floor and then POP Rivet in patches, You wouldn't get an M.O.T here in that state.

No gearbox will fit without slight tunnel mods, with a T.5 / C4 auto its not much of a mod.

Spare wheel well is in the way of the diff as well.

Mines a 4 speed AOD auto which is slightly bigger.

How much does a conversion like this cost?

i dont see the point in tuning a FWD car to 3/400 HP, so RWD the way to go, is a high power RWD car drivable in the wet?

Has andy still got that car as im sure it was on ebay a while back. I think he used Subaru running gear cos it was lighter than cossie running gear and so for the restricted power its was just what he wanted

Just use a Zetec engine for a turbo project and Evo 8 running gear, thats what im doing. Keeps the engine transverse and much less fabrication is needed

And will give the massive understeer that the Evos have on the limit too ! All that weight ahead of the driveline , would be ok if you get it behind the line of the driveshafts
