after being ripped by some coont off of ebay, I managed to get hold of this...
Now Im hoping Ive got it right this time... can anyone confirm that this is a roiuter/modem?? or will i need to link it to my existing thing..
When I put the BT disk in to set up the wireles connection, it should have

Can anyone shed any light... I know this laptop runs wireless as round my dads house it works fine on his wireless setup..

Right lad, firstly, what the fuck is that ? Manufactirer and model number will do, or a better clearer pic.
To wire up the adsl modem, take the cable that run's from your phone line, and plug it into your router / modem thing you have just bought. Ensure that all the lights are on, then plug your ethernet cable into a spare port on the router / modem thing. into your network card on your pc. Then click on start -> Run and type in \\192.168.1.1 and it should open the router (check the manual for further instructions) You will need to setup the network name atc, encryption, etc and then do the same you your laptop / PSP etc that you want to connect it to.
Let this be a lesson to you.

ive read the manual, and know it word for word
Click http://voyager.home to start your Internet browser and open the BT Voyager Configuration Manager.
If this address does not work, try http://192.168.1.1 instead.
this is what it says.. to be honest, i reckon ive been given the wrong disk, but dont quote me on that
i noticed it did sya restart, so will try that quickly... *
*bongman hopes it doesnt restart.,,

Firstly, I would click on the user guide and read.
secondly, I would then click on the installation guide.
Failing that Westy, google the model of router you have and see if anyone else has had issues with wireless setup.

thanks..
i have read it tho ade, maybe im just useless at this stuff.. no patience and get pissed off..
i did noice this
You must install a compatible 802.11g or 802.11b wireless adapter on all computers you want to connect to your wireless network.
the laptop has wifi, so havent touched anything.... it ran fine on a wireless connection elsewhere

if u was closer id have a look 4 ya, wireless rocks
looks like u have all the right lights, maybe make sure u have the same ip range/subnet on ur network card.
go to network settings, set the ip of the network card in machine to 192.168.1.10 and the subnet to 255.255.255.0
then try browsing to http://192.168.1.1

So, your ADSL works fine through the router (albeit wired)
You need to go into your wireless configuration on your laptop to connect to the router. You'll still need to sort out security settings on the router though. I'll hazard a guess that your dad's wireless network isn't running security....
What model no. is your router and what laptop, what operating system?
