Right guys, after a head CC check last week a major compression problem has reared its ugly head and i think its only oing to get worse
So far ive got a block which has been bored to 86mm because we were going to use the Accralite pistons, problem being these pistons are designed for a ZVH conversion and a CVH has a lot bigger cumbustion chamber in the head than a Zetec.
We measured my head last week and it was 43.5cc, when you add the head gasket and asume that the pistons sit flush with deck at TDC (which iam led to belive they dont
) that is going to give me a compresion ratio of 12.49:1.
The Accralite pistons have a 10mm thick unfinished piston crown, so iam going to have to be removing around 6mm of the top
As i did not pay anywhere near full price for the pistons iam not that fussed and will easyly get my money back for them, so i thought foook it, new pistons and steal rods are needed
So guys what are your susgestions?
Head CC`s: 43.5cc
Head Gasket: 10cc
Bore: 86mm
Its an early Zetec block
Iam looking for around 7.8:1 - 8.0:1 compression ratio
Thanks for your help
Ross

Yeh tell me about it Chipper, the pistons are going to end up like milk bottle tops
Do they need to be dished though, as they are unfinished crowns??
Iam waiting for Doug (garage19) to reply as iam sure he has just sorted some rods and pistons from the states.

I emailed Ian today, this is what he had to say:
"I have a several options for you:
1) Focus WRC rods and Forged pistons Ł1280
2) H beam eagle rod with custom forged pistons Ł1150
3) Farndon H beam rod with Vauxhall LET piston Ł1300
All will be provided in the CR of either your or my choice, and all can handle the boost without issue.
I also supply turbo's if you haven't already purchase one, along with valve springs, cams, modified water pumps, ARP's, & EEC4 kits for Mark/Ahmed to map onto.
Cheers
Ian"
Anybody want some Accralite pistons for a ZVH conversion??

what do people make of these ?
theyre allegedly
"For 2.0 l zetec engine standard bore (84.99mm) no need to over bore.
Inverted dome to give a compression ration of 7.9-1 for zetec (on 48cc UK head)
Inverted dome to give a compression ration of 7.35-1 for ZVH (on 55cc CVH head)"

when i test fitted my accralites the pistons stuck out of the bore about 2.5mm so i skimmed off 4mm the max burtons advised
the head had been machined out to bring the combustion chamber to 49cc
and a standard focus rs headgasket
my c/r is 9.5:1 running a bar and get wheelspin in 3rd

9.5:1 is way to high for the FRST managment as its no way near as good as the stuff you are using, my engine builder has said 7.9:1 max!

on my old zvh made 311bhp 292fbt @ 19psi but the injectors were maxed out, the engine was low on compression on number one cylinder, the cam was'nt dialed in properly, the exhaust down pipe was too small like two inches in diameter losing me torque so thats a guide the base of my current engine, more or less is the same but just alot stronger i will be running my current engine at 2 bar of boost, anything over 350 i'll be happy with but how much power can you gain with an extra 9 psi? Now i am running 750cc injectors,s8 ecu coil pack, spoon style inlet manifold with 45mm jam jets, three inch down pipe, its an 2.0 litre now where as before it was a 2.1, newman cam dialed in by brom. i am also running pumaracing top spec 45mm valve head with his own double valve spring system.,i'm going to a rolling road shootout on march 12th @ engine advantages so will find out then
