Default Top Result MSD Does it again !!

I decided last week to fit a MSD Closed loop chip to the Escos, well after
having to cut out the big wiring plugs and several other little niggles, Stu
had the chip and -31 delivered to my door in his usual quick time, and i am
now sporting a MSD sunstrip too

We fitted the New Chip and -31, then we testing on our own local "private
duel carrigeway.

After sort this, i decided to go with a mate to get his evo on the rollers for a power run, which we also booked in the cossie..

And sure enuff the setup was correct 359.7 BHP

And on the way up and back was averaging 30-34 Mpg...

Thanks Stu............

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but...

Just a quick question regarding removing the large plugs at rear of engine - is it just a case of cutting them out and joining the wires (soldering) or is there more to it?

I ask because I am having to pull them apart, wd40/clean them and put them back together every month to cure an annoying misfire/jumpy rev counter Also think it tidies the bay up nicely too

I remember the pics of RS Gus's old Saph when he had done this, but I never asked how he did it??

Many thanks in advance

Kev

Yes.

P.S: WD40 will make it worse, junk shouldnt be allowed near electrical systems.

This was done on my escos simply by cutting the plug each side one by one,
soldering and then heat shrink, however do each one at a time as they are not
all the same as you may think..

On a late spec car all the work is done for you, i simply need to send you a chip and a hardware key, you plug it in, make a few tweaks as per the instructions and your all done. Ł250 plus P&P

The ONLY limitation is it must be a totally STANDARD ecu that still has its original daughterboard. Pectel hardware is a no go.

dunno if it has a standard ecu?

was stage 3'd in december 05, by power engineering with a receipt for 'stage 3 chip' Ł120?

as i dont use the car much, is it possible to send you my ecu? or are there other parts that need modifying?

does this cure the random idling, (ie 1500 rpm on a cold start) associated with stage 3 cars? or is this just my car and likely to have another cause?

time, that and i had a crap collins dump valve on it that was leaking !!

Hi, At Ł120 its unlikely you have a Pectel conversion so you should be ok.
Yes, you can send me the ecu and i will make the modifications to teh daughterboard and fit the chip FOC and post it back to you before 1pm next day, all you should have to do then is plug it in and go, although i do advise you have the system given teh once over by a pro with a fuel monitor who can set your boost and check teh fuelling is ok.

All Cosworths should idle, AND drive, teh same cold as they are hot.
Its worth noting a raised idle of between 1200 and 1400 rpm is normal on a cold YB until it gets some heat into it to allow a steady idle.

Mine has started to that, nothing to do with the closed loop, on inspection we noticed the IISC was not closing properly & have been advised to get a new one.

hi stu,
i have a 1994 small turbo escos which i'm very interested in putting closed loop on.
all it has is a stage 1 tune with stainless exhaust, k+n induction kit, and superchip.
can you tell me what it would cost for the diy kit, and fitted with set up?
cheeRS.
