Default how do you setup vernier pulleys for a zetec turbo then? :)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

just won those on fleabay and just wonderd if anyone had set any vernier pulleys up on a ZT before so i can set them up first time (ish)

i think i read some where zetec turbo's like the exhaust cam advancing a bit but not shure about the inlet cam (im probably talking bollocks here)

im running 130ps blacktop cams and omex so the map can be tweaked but i dont think changing the pulleys is going to efect the map that much i hope

The same way you set any vernier up.

Get true TDC, Stick the belt on, then rotate the engine crank the number of degrees the cam manufacturer state. Using a gauge. Then adjust the vernier so you have maximum lift on the cam using a DTI.

"Generally" cars feel better with the inlet cam slightly advanced than retarted, they feel "perkier" But don't go doing it by eye. Get a the gauges out.

Set it all up accurately, and you'll get the maximum benefit from the cams. I have no idea how good those cams are though. TBH I'd not go for any unknown makes, only Piper/Kent or similar.

But like I say, go for what the manufacturers state, and it'll be as good as you can get it.

As for retarding the exhaust cam for emiisions. I couldnt say either way.

Are you talking about the possible use of other specification standard equipment cams in a turbo zetec?

I am currently mapping all the profiles and timings of the standard zetec cams available to come up with a decent solution for turbo cams. I may have newman grind or re-grind some to my spec.

I will let you know how i get on and what i find.

Doug.

Vetec or Zetec???? The cam wheels on a zetec, indeed are not keyed so are infinatly adjustable without verniers. The verniers just make it a bit easier.
