You can get a 'car enthusiasts policy' from Tradex which is a Traders type policy for non Traders but you need to be over 25, I've got one and it's the best thing I ever did, i'm insured for any car I own for £800 a year, theres 6 cars on it at the mo including the cossy (only restriction is a Cat 1 alarm but everyone asks for them now anyway).

I just got a Traders policy, £1500 am 21 and the ecos ins was £1300! I had to have a unit to trade from with an address (my old man has one!).
Lets me drive any car fully comp, and covers me for public liability. BUT you only get paid out trade price not listed price if you damage/write off a car.

they are all wise to people doing this for cheaper insurance, most companies now like ongoing proof of trading plus its part of the insurance act anyway that everytime a trader gets a new car he has to tel/fax the details over and the same when he sells one, i used to do it once a fortnight (mainly because i kept forgetting!)
best way is car enthusiast policy as mentioned above.

exactly as tricky says,if you arnt tradeing and you claim they wont payout, also if you have an incident with the police the policy can be invalid if your not tradeing.
its not like it used to be.

I'm still amased at the number of people that try to cut corners with something as important as insurance. You wouldn't spend £1k on AP racing brakes and then go and fit cardboard brake pads would you?

why should your no claims be allowed on just ONE car,,,,, YOU ARE STILL DRIVING !!!!!
you cant drive 2 cars at once either so wheres that fair
of its for 3rd party libility then i think there SHOULD be allowed as YOU are the risk not the car,,, base it on the higer risk car too, its quite a fair deal i find
insurance has NOTHING to do with the car either,,,,, its just INCASE you hit somone or need it, if you have enough cash you dont even NEED to have insurance aslong as you can prove you can pay out more than the insurance requirments, seems unfair that the rich are allowed to IGNORE insurance but the poor have to pay EXCESIVE FEES based on the car and not get a refund when they dont claim
