Hi I have a 93 sapphire RS 4x4
ABS light stays on dim, after start up, and when still standing and the brake is pressed, it goes a bit brighter. I changed all 4 sensors, but still same, so I’m guessing it’s an issue elsewhere. can someone tell me where and how can locate the fuses and relays for ABS? also the pressure sensor? Other than that what could it be? The accumulator itself?
anyone got any idea of part numbers or alternatives for replacement of relays , pressure sensor and accumulator?
What do you mean it stays on 'dim'? There are only 2 options for the light, on or off. Sometimes some light from other bulbs shines through, especially from the normal dash illumination.
It sounds like the light only comes on when the pedal is pressed. In that case I expect that the pressure switch detects that the boost pressure is low. That could either be a faulty pressure switch, or the pump does not create a lot of pressure, or the accumulator doesn't hold the pressure. I don't expect anything wrong with relays or fuses.
The light doesn’t go off after 10 secs like it should, but it almost extinguishes when brake pedal is pressed. However it is still dimly lit.
The red light is not on.
i swapped out the relay in fuse box, cleaned every plug connector still same.
what could it be? I decided to buy a NOS accumulator I found. I’ll see if I can swap it out easily… anyone done this before?
also, Does anyone know if the Range Rover P38 accumulator fits the saf ? Cheers

it’s not the accumulator as I had it swapped for a NOS item and all brakes bled. and the pump is working.
there seem to be 2 different plugs on the front of the ABS unit , can anyone confirm which one is which and does what? I have a feeling the one with a green body is the pressure sensor, but not sure. No idea what the top one is or actually how to remove it.
help most appreciated! Unit view Top plug/switch

Reason: Additional info
I’m looking in the Sierra manual p106 fuses/relays, it says there’s also an auxiliary fuse box under the glove compartment. Apparently this has 2 more relays and fuses for the ABS.
I took off the glove box lid but all I see is the ECU. No relays or fuses! I double checked on my XR 4x4 with the same system and none either.
surely I don’t need to take the whole dash off just to change a fuse or relay? I just can’t see where it is! Help most appreciated!! Auxiliary fuse box position? Glove box lid off
On my LHD Sierra they are in between the computers and the heater matrix. But maybe on an RHD car they are to the outside of the computers? They should definitely be there somewhere.
For info the ABS light will be very dim unless on full brightness showing a fault . There is a constant small current going through the bulb . Is the abs not actually working ?
Hi Dave and a very merry Christmas to you and your family.
Yeah the light was still dim despite changing the accumulator, all wheel sensors and fluid.
But when I eventually found the auxiliary fuses and relays, I saw the first yellow relay’s piggy back fuse had blown. Once replaced, her ABS started working! Cheers 🍻
