Default 4wd plenum

Anyone have an idea as to the level a 2wd plenum becomes restrictive and it's worth changing to the 4wd one. Also I think the small turbo escos one is the best but think it needs a bit of work to get it fitted, my car is planning on being stage 3 at some point and wondered if it was worth the expense to fit one

Thanks

I have a ST Escos one for sale which was modified by Turbosystems for the ACT Sensor and a couple of extra vacum take offs

From R&B Motorsport:
The OE inlet manifolds are limited to the following bhp (in the main due to the restrictive elbow NOT the throttle body, which will comfortably flow 650+bhp), 2wd = 430bhp 4x4 = 450bhp EECIV = 500bhp.

why not just mod the restrictive elbow and then add a spacer plate thats what ive done as not really worth all the extra expense some of the manifolds command

Do you mean to weld some material to the elbow and to port it inside?

yes, you cut out the the restrictive bit of the elbow.

Below is a pic i found from Google - not mine as mine is a bit neater but it gives you an idea of what is needed Add in a 14mm spacer and the inlet should be good enough to flow well over 500bhp

Dont get a spacer as they only do things worse. You want to lead the air behind the trumpets as it is here the trumpets suck from. The spacer only makes the situation worse, and it makes the engine less responsive as you get more plenumvolume.

I dont think the marginal gain of peak hp using the spacer is worth the price, modify your inlet like mine, or get a proper Hart one if you want to go bigger. The responsive gain on the modified however is HUGE.

Been advised the same, unless your going for a bigger turbo than a t34 a spacer isn't really worth it....

Ive got a reyland 14mm spacer on a 4x4 inlet, not sure on how much i gained but it produced 410 lb/ft, imo its worth fitting one as theres definatly a gain in there somewhere. Cheap mod too

Unless of course your going to loose responce on the 34
