Default Dilemma???!!!

I have a very tidy 93 k saff 4x4, in fact it's so tidy I'm finding myself not using it. Now I'm tempted to maybe sell it and buy an older 2wd saff with a bigger spec engine and average bodywork. So I would maybe use it and abuse it a bit more without being scared of a bird shitting on it.... Would just like a few opinions on this thought

I know that's what I mean. The car gets loads of attention everytime I go out and to be fair it's probably not far off the perfect car but I would like one with around 450-500 bhp and maybe a few scars?

It's only and nothing more than a lump of metal at the end of the day, no rules on how it is to be used, my thought is that a car is so expensive an item to have I like to get my moneys worth from it, mine had battle scars, doesn't bother me in the slightest tbh, adds character imo, mine stays outside all the time, use din all weathers inc ice and snow, and for all reasons, shopping, taking dog for haircut every six weeks, towing a caravan, even some mild off roading!!

i know what you mean, i love my car but its not a usable car, even if it wasn't that clean i just can't park it anywhere unless i can see it as they attract so much attention i worry about it getting stolen, and can't see the point of using in bad weather when i have 2 other cars i can use instead of having to use it and then wash it, tempted to go back to a M5 to be honest but only the value that cosworths hold that stops me.

sounds as if your half way to doing it , If i had a minter late model i,d be the same . Anyway, thought of tucking yours away and getting another? Dont forget the territory that comes with 500 Hp , you may end up 'regretting' the move if funds cant keep up the demand. On the other hand you could have more fun than ever and never look back, hard call imo

I love my saff a lot but maybe it's just a bit too clean to actually use? Or maybe I need to stop treating it like a baby? I would like a slightly more powerful rear wheel drive one. I don't think the big power cossies cost that much extra to run as long as they've been built properly with the right parts. Can't cost much more than my OCD of replacing parts that are perfectly ok

If it had 9k on the clock id understand bt to not use a car thats got 90k is pointless.. Get it used. I had a mint 2wd saph with 18,000 miles from new and i used that every day and modded it pretty much straight away. Iv got other cosworths that are alot more collectable now but didnt have then and still did it.. Jus mod the one u got mate

My car hasnt got 90k miles on it. It has a genuine 70k with full history and every test from new. I'm not saying I don't want to use it. I want one I can abuse a bit more, because mine is just a bit too nice to be abused. So what I'm saying is I'm considering replacing it with something a bit more powerful and preferably rear wheel drive and sell mine to someone who just wants a garage ornament

I got mine with 44K on it, after 3 years it had hit 50K - that was depressing

Then i thought fuck this, its 1991 car with only 50K on it, so i've started using it and not worrying about it too much. Ok its got a few stone chip on it now, but i can tell you one thing - I had a good time putting them there!!!

Worst comes to worst, a few years down the line i'll get the front end blown in - no real drama.

So my advice is - man up and use the thing!!!!

Everyone seems to be missing the point here, what I'm asking is in peoples opinion will I be better off sticking with what I've got or would I enjoy a Cosworth more if it was slightly less in the appearance and more in the performance

Why compromise? Keep yours and tune it. Stage 3 is easy and cheap + reversable if you want to go back to standard.

Mine already is stage 3 with a t34 and 500 cooler. I'm talking about replacing it with 450 plus bhp which would really need to be 2wd

i reckon u would enjoy a car of lesser value & condition better mate, ive been there before as well with escort cossies, a mint white 3dr cossie as well as a few proper mint saffs which spent most of the time in my garage coverd up. i sold my 3dr 2 years ago bought an ae86 corolla which i was scared to use in rain, salt etc & sold it last september. i bought a roughish 1990 2wd flint grey saff with 113k, mot & taxed running stage 1 for £3100 & ive had the best fun ever in it. ive drove it everyday for 7 odd months, put 2 snow tyres on the back in december for the bad snow & drive her rain hail or snow. ive tidyed it up to a resonable standard & when its washed up its good enough to show although no where near concours. a mint car is always nice to have & talk about but imo takes the fun out of it a bit.
