neil roper has one of the best reputations in the game. alot of people use him on here and alot of the vauxhall lads use him

Cool, thanks, thats very reasonable considering the work involved was expecting it to be more than that, better start saving then! How much does it cost for Nick Waples to do the head, any ideas?

depends on what you want doing

from my understanding, neil roper is cheaper than most

you will always need to factor in other things your head might need once its been inspected

Apparently so but I don't know what Nick would charge in person as I believe most people go through Harvey who would most probably add a bit on.

I thought the same! cant quite understand if the advert for 500+hp spec comes with new valves and guides as do the other specs? Going to give them a call in the new year and find out a bit more.

Thats fair enough, still a good price.Just that the lower specs have new valves fitted and guides, unless im reading it wrong and the first 2 specs in the advert are for no porting and just new valves and guides??? either way its a good price for just the porting and that suits me fine as i was expecting to pay a £1000+.

Not used Nick Warples but Neil is a great bloke. Always willing to chat and the people I respect most use him. I've used him myself and found him very reasonable, as well as spending a day or two at his workshop and has always been very helpful.

Karl at NMS seems to know his stuff when it comes to heads.
His 'low lag' head comes in at about £750+vat iirc
However, have to say that Neil's heads seem very good value

I had mine done at Cylinder head developments. Think the chaps name was Andy, very helpful. Had the head ported, skimed, double valve springs supplyed n fitted.new bronze valve guides 8xexhaust valves, inlet manifold port matched. Think it came to just under £1200 in the end. Very happy with the work

one thing not to forget. if your spending that sort of money on a head, make sure it has plenty of life left in it & not been skimmed to death. id personally want a near virgin head to start with (around 139mm)
