starting problems 4x4
I'm posting for help again! I've put my old engine in another rolling shell and used the fuel pump etc from my old car.
The new shell has wiring in for an uprated pump but the wires have been tampered with and cut near the relays in the passenger compartment. As a result I've used my old but working pump and done a rewire as per some old posts on here.
I've stripped out the clifford alarm and for the minute put the wiring back to standard.
The car turns over but won't fire up at all.
I replaced all my sensors before installing the engine. One thing I haven't done is check the CPS gap. If the gap is incorrect will this stop the car starting?
Also I can't here the fuel pump priming and I am guessing this may be the issue. I cut the fuel pump positive in the boot and connected this to pin 85 of my new relay and ran a wire from 87 to the pump positive.
I haven't rewired the pump negative but kept it as it was.
Can anyone help?
Cheers
Steve

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Fuel pump positive in the boot normally comes from a relay that is controlled by the ecu. So, now you are using 2 relays to control 1 pump. But if the first relay doesn't work, neither will your pump.
First check: when you turn the ignition on do you get a feed on the injectors? When not check main relay.
For wiring diagram see: http://www.bigturbo.co.uk/main6.htm

Thank for the reply. I've checked the wiring. The earth was no good from the pump, so I've replaced that and all is now working. Thanks again,
Steve
