Default 3dr abs problem.

i've got a problem with my abs.
when i add the 2 main abs wires to the battery, 1 of the wires sparks and blows the fuse near the abs ecu.
i had the full engine bay stripped for paint and disconnected the abs wiring but there its all straight forward to wire back up. so i thought

any idea's

Take out the fuse, then do a resistance test between the battery connection wire(abs) and the fuse holder, if this shows continuity to earth you have a dead short, if this is ok, the problem is the fuse holder onwards side.
Just be aware that ford did put some RED wires in a BLACK sheathing, some get a bit mixed up.

sorted the problem.
when i had the loom removed from the engine bay i retaped parts of it to make it more tidy.
there was 1 wire was joined which was to long so i cut it and rejoined it

this wire

not sure what its for but this is causing the problem, i disconnected the wire and it's fine now.
1 wire is brown, 1 wire is red so one must be a live and the other must be an earth.
i don't know why they where joined together?
i kept the wire and tested it for continuity, there was'nt any continuity through the wire.

It's a freewheeling diode to prevent damage to the pump relay contacts. The wires should be joined as they are in the photo, but diode failure or incorrect (ie reversed) connection will cause the fuse to blow. You need either to reverse the diode connections or a replacement diode.

I've just re-read your post. If you mean that you've removed the diode completely and just joined the red and brown wires together, then you will need to re-insert the diode as it was previously.
