Engine flush, bad or good??
Going to get car serviced, oil change etc and seem to remember reading that engine flush, which most garages seem to use, is not good for turbo cars. Is this the case. Also, what oil for a cosworth.

how often is regular, I get the car serviced every 6k miles, mostly to keep a good record and get a stamp from the garage, and keeping an eye on the oil in between. Should I be changing the oil more often ie 3k miles?.

If a engine is clean and oil been changed regually then its always a good idear to use engine flush, I do. I change my oil every 2500 miles mybe i am a bit fussey .
If i was you i would change it every 3K , 6K is a bit long in a cossie, exspecally if you drive it how it should be driven, Never use engine flush in a engine full of black sluge as it ends up in the sump and blocks the oil strainer,

To right mate used it on mine once,had to get a full set of tappets it was quiet as a mouse before oil flush then it sounded like a German panzer tank!!Learnt the hard way
But there again i know lads who do use flush regularly and have no problems.I guess you gotta ask yourself do you feel lucky!!!!

decent quality oil and regular changes should be no need at all to use a engine flush.
if you do use a flush though bear in mind any crap that may be sticking to the sides of the block etc is all going to get loosened up and thus in a very short time will fill the oil filter full of shite so you'd be best to change the oil filter within a few days of running a flush through it.
personaly i wouldn't touch the stuff though

Dont bother with the flush mate did that to an XR2 once along with a full service and i ended up with huge amounts of back pressure and oil pouring out everywhere!
as has been said good quality regular changes are the key
