Hi!

I've got a problem... My head gasket by Victor Rein (for Cosworth) said "bye bye..." and I don't know why...

My boost: 1.5 bar

Any ideas, friends?

And what I have now used the gasket? Metal?

Were the head and block both skimmed ?, how tight did you do the head bolts/nuts up to ?

Could you write it differently, because I do not understand

No problem, did you get the head face surface skimmed(made totally flat) by machining before you put the head on the engine,
How your gasket has blown out may be down to the head or the cylinder block not being aboslutely flat, as the gasket you used are a very good gasket, and being fibrous and not steel cope much better if the surface of the head and cylinder block are not absolutely perfect, so odd at that boost it should have gone.
I suspect the head or block is warped.
Also what did you use to clamp the head to the block, did you use the ARP stud and nut kit or the standard ford headbolts ?, and if ARP what torque(lbft or NM) did you do them up to ?

Ok

I made a mistake, not honed head I used a std headbolts.
I do not remember how much Nm I used to screw head, but I used the values from Microcat

I would check VERY carefully the head and block, for extra security use ARP stud & nut kit, and torque down to 120 lbft, leave at least 4 hours, the recheck at 120 again.
Obviously if the head and or block need a skim this needs doing first.

My friend from Skogenracing said: "I think the gasket failed because of knocking"
I think he is right.
What do You think?

It could have been knocking but was this not set up on the rollers in the first place ?
It does look amazingly fierce for a blow, but possibly the head/block was bowed around these two cyls ?
