Default Wasted Spark ?

How efficient is wasted spark, does it draw more,or less current than a group "a" coil.Is wasted spark supplied through the ecu,or does it have a separate loom that drives the coilpack.
thanks matt

very efficient mate, apparatly the best mod for a cossy although ive not done it myself yet. You will need a seperate driver board for l6 l8 to be fitted inside the ecu and also a fly loom to drive the extra ignition amp, ive herd jano is the cheapest for the whole kit

This is possibly the best mod you can do to Cossie, it's fitted to my 3 door as is brilliant.

iv got a MSD wasted spark on my car . i got it as a DIY kit very nice mod there is one or two down sides with the kit some times when i turn the key i will get a coth from the motor as all the plugs fire at the same time it will never start but it is funny . you will all so have to keep your spark plugs down to a small size on the gap like .65mm not wot you would think like a mondeo which runs over 1.00mm . all so the kit will some times play up with you rev counter and will need a small bit of we wiring to sort it if running a ford clock set up . the one big down side iv had is you have to mod the ECU for the wasted spark and put some new wires inside the ECU plug which mean if you need to test a new ECU on the car it wont work unless you revers the wiring back to standerd which is a pane in the ass . but at the same time when its working it works very well

one of the best thing i did to mine, msd one, they fitted driver into ecu,so was really just plug and play, did need to modify tacho, full instructions and was easy enough to solder the wee loop wire in at the back of the tacho, seemingly not all need tacho modded, never miss fires in damp now, which it always did before unless sprayed wd40 on connections to group a coil and cap etc every other day, cars my daily driver

What he^^ says, apart from I think it is bloody expensive, though I've no doubt there was a lot of design/testing work etc gone into it which needs paying for, I just think the cost compared with aftermarket ecu is prohibitive, I only went coilpack as my ecu runs it direct, with no questionable reliability issues of any external amps.

all so the kit will some times play up with you rev counter and will need a small bit of we wiring to sort it if running a ford clock set up
Sure the wasted spark is for bigger gaps !
what the mod on the rev !

With differing compression including adiabatic, this will alter how much spark you can get away with.
If you use a ACCEL coil in place of the early zetec type this gives around 40% more spark power, around Ł36.

In the context of aftermarket ecu's that have it as std plus more it is pricey imo for one small part, aftermarket start at Ł350 including a loom from AS for example.
