cossie sensor kits
do people notice a difference to there cossies when you have changed all the sensors ie water temp air temp crank sensor. Ive heard a few people say the engines run better when they have changed them. I also got told when the sensors have been disconnected it brings up a fault code in the ecu?

If the sensor is in perfect order (giving a good signal) changing will have no effect.
Disconnecting a sensor brings up an error, but that disappears when you switch off the ignition.

Although sensors don't wear as such, the Thermistor used in the CTS and ACT can go woefully out of range, obviously this has much more effect when it is the CTS one, being the main corrective factor for the CO, generally they are either spot on or a million miles out, so you'd be in no doubt about something very wrong fuelling wise if CTS, less so if ACT, even though these sensors are exactly the same sensor just in a different housing.

One thing i did when i first fitted cossy management on a non cos. engine was to change the utterly unreliable o/e WTS with a Vw 2.0 corrado Bosch sensor,the resistenze readings are identicle and i've never had any other problems.
The Weber version would pack up every 2 years...,black smoke from exhaust,non starting,fouled plugs.
Just remember to get the white headed sensor and not the Kjet brown headed version fitted to mech. injected golfs as the threaded part that screws into the cyl. head is much bigger.

As said unless incorrect readings are being given then theres no reason to change, theres not alot to go wrong apart from CTS and ACT as said values stray after a while, but you would notice that on running of the car. Good idea to check CPS and phase gaps.

id just taken my engine out for new gaskets / freshen up and refused to re fit the old sensors, my crank sensor wiring was fucked. It ran alot smoother, 60 quid well spent if you ask me
