Header tank differences
just wondering if there are two types of header tanks for the sapphy? I've seen a few pics of other sapphys and they seem to have a water level sensor in the tank whereas my H reg 4x4 sapphy doesn't have one??
Mine is cracking so wouldn't mind replacing it with one with a level sensor, is this possible?

As above, I wouldn't want one with a level sensor as I always visually check mine, and wouldn't trust any sensor if I didn't have to.
The 4wd tank is still available new from ford, around £30 from memory, just fitted one on my 2wd sapphy, I made a alloy pipe adaptor to convert from the smaller 2wd return to the 4wd size on the tank, otherwise it's spend stupid money on a pipe that does the job.
My adaptor can also be used for taking temperature measurements of the turbo water, when tapped for a temp sensor.

The 2wd has a much smaller, around 10/12mm pipe stub at the top part for the turbo return, the 4wd has a much larger return the same size as the filler pipe around 17mm/19mm, and just above the place where the bottom feed(to radiator) pipe is on both tanks.

2wd is from ford NLA, 4wd one is.

thanks, mine is a 2wd one
didnt want to buy an alloy one then start messing around with hoses etc

Thanks to Stian for posting this up for me.
Made with my own fair hands, the grooves are for the pipe to grip on when tightened with clip.
I'm going to make a 1/2" longer version with a npt tapped hole for a temp sender, as just curious, this will be tried on a car with and without the turbo cooler, with the cooler being plumbed in after the turbo and before the turbo.
Of course anyone wanting to bling could get anodised their colour.
Material cost is under £1 just for refference on this part.
This was one of the first bits I did on me lathe, so just learning a bit, that's why the ends are not faced off nice and flat.
