Default 044 Fuel Pump

How loud are other peoples bosch 044 pumps? Ive just fitted one and its buzzes incredibly loudly! is it just the nature of the pump?

Interestingly there was a post on GD (?) a couple of weeks back saying they were a fair bit noisier than the standard pumps

Yes it's more noisy than the standard but you can't hear it inside the car with engine on idle. From outside I can hear it from the middle of the car and back but i can't hear it from the front of the car.(also when engine idling).
You should check the delivery and return lines because they could have a bend or something so the flow is restricted there causing the pump to work harder.
I also read somewhere that this pump needs 12mm tubing to work correct but mine is still with the factory ones.

Forget to say to check the fuel filter also!

Check Stu's thread about 044 adaptors !!

https://passionford.com/forum/genera...-be-aware.html

I have had a 044 on my car for a couple of years and I have had a strange problem I have been trying to solve … ?

I got the pump with this nice alloy fittings/adaptor....

Anyway there has been a strange sound from the pump…kind of it was letting in air from time to time, like when you suck on a straw and almost empty your soda and letting in air….maybe like you say BURBLES....

I even got BOSCH to check my pump but the pump checked out fine...but the sound was still there :-(

so now I saw this thread, and cheked my own adaptor...and found this...(the problem is in the adaptor part closest to the pump).

the one to the left is the one on my car (ID 8.5mm) and the right is a new drilled one...I fitted a new adaptor (ID 12mm) ... and now I only have a "normal" 044 buzz from the pump...

I put a new filter in when i done the pump. I got an adaptor made up to fit and it is the correct diameter so it must just be a noisier pump than standard one judging by what others have said.

Think it's just luck of the draw on how noisy they are, my std one was noisier than my 044, well till I spun it backwards to get all the crap back into the tank from out of the pump anyway!!
I think it is the change of noise from new that marks it's impending demise, rather than noisy or quiet.

Thanks for the heads up on the adaptor. Have checked mine now and it looks like your drilled out version thankfully. Well worth checking!!!

Mine just makes a squirty noise like air in the system, then buzzy sound first thing, then just a buzz each time after that till next day.
