Default 3dr cosworth engine won't start.

just tried getting the cossie to start but it won't, it turns over but won't fire. the engine management light stays on.

its not been started since last august i've been tidying the engine bay up and it has been steam cleaned back in august.

any ideas where i should start? fuel pump is priming.

Rule out the basics first; do you have fuel at the rail and do you have a spark?

I'd be looking at the MAP sensor. Is the loom still pluged on ok,has any moisture got into the plug and is the earth strap still attatched under the screw that holds the MAP sensor?header tank in place. If all thats ok then i,d check all the other sensor connections for moisture especially the crank position sensor . Its also worth having a look inside the dizzy cap for moisture and check the plastic covering the wires inside the the dizzy on the phase sensor. The plastic tends to go brittle ,fall off and allow the two wires to touch each other .

If you have spark and fuel, check crank and phase sensors. Mates 3 door did the same, it broke the phase sensor while parked up

Check the crank sensor for gap and cleanliness. I think it needs to be 0.3mm from the tooth.

Mine wasn't starting and I had fuel on the rail and spark and it was something very strange: the fuel injectors were stacked! (hasn't started for 18 months).

CRANK is 0.6mm to 0.8mm, PHASE is 0.3mm to 0.4mm.
The crank sensor will work quite a bit outside these limits, phase is easy, but fiddly, just a screw/s holding it to the plate in the dizzy after removing cap and arm, then sheild(if fitted).

As the fuel pump is priming, this rules out the CPS, as without this signal, it won't prime.

Although the pump primes, does it still run in starting position ?, have you checked rail pressure, check all connections, as bound to be something silly that got missed.
Check lead order on dizzy cap.
