Default Fuel filter, fuel pump & wiring question

i'm going to replace the fuel filter on my Sapphire 2wd as it looks pretty old

fuel pump & wiring looks to be original too (70k ish)....... should i replace them too?

as i'm looking to use the car on trackdays, is it a good idea to fit an uprated pump (may put it up to stage 1 once i'm used to the car)

get a 044 fuel pump and stanardfilter from woodford motorsport garage. that should do the job.

its defo worth getting a fuel pump rewire loom as well
as this is a common fault on these cars
the wiring corrodes and creates a high resistance
this drops te voltage at the pump
so defo worth doing a rewire, for safety and reliability

I gained just over 2 volts at the pump after a rewire

I'm not good at wiring so I bought one of the Prometheus ones off The Ebay. It looks very well made and if you're not good at wiring I'd recommend one. There's also a few people off here that can make one for for a fee.

Std 941 pump is plenty ok till at least 380-400 bhp, but rewire is a must as is fan rewire.
If you're ok with wire etc less than a fiver each bit pump/loom.

It's not the wiring I am bothered about it's getting the proper bits like the mushroom connectors etc.

Want to keep it original Ford looking.....

any comments anyone I was going to buy one off Ebay as well but £45 is a bit expensive.

i dont think the standard wiring connectors fit on a grp A pump!Or are you just interested in keeping the standard pump and doing a re-wire(standard pump more then enough for stage 1 and indeed stage 3!)

I think you can buy a kit to convert http://www.randbmotorsport.co.uk/sho...?ProductID=321

The loom I got from Prometheus assumes you have an 044 but you can ask him to do the fittings for a std pump so I've heard
