Default Got my new rack on but...........

Just looked in the pas res and the oil has turned brown,is that normal when fitting a recon rack? it was some old oil ive have had for a while could it be the oil? is there a certain way of flushing it out to put some more new oil in?

cheers al

find another person
buy a large vat of CHEAP ATF
undo the return line and create/find a catch can larger than the vat
take cap off PAS res and top it up as the return line leaks out a bit, wait a bit
other person starts car
Fill PAS res with oil as it empties, don't let it take air in
watch until oil coming out return line goes clear
stop engine
fit return line
top it up to spec line
idle car for a bit, turning wheels a bit, look for leaks

Repeat nearly all the steps above but with a high quality fluid. Skip the bit about it coming out clean, you're already there obviously. Just let the amount out that you're refilling it with the good stuff. Or just use the cheap ATF and do it once every couple years.
