Default Wheel offset ?

Getting a new set of wheels for my cossie, various ET's available, but which is best.
All the 17" wheels are 7J, so will take 215, maybe 235(?), but what ET would be best for this.
I have coilovers so will not foul spring platforms etc(front), and should be able to go in a bit more.
Any advice/experience greatfully received, I don't mind adjusting offset with spacers etc if necessary.
Thanks

Hm you sure all 17s are 7j, I have just bought a set which are 17s and says they are 8j??? anyone clear that up??? Maybe its a typing error and the guy meant to write 7j

Can you fit 215's on an 8j???

It says these have an offset of 33.

o 205 would be even better for me, as I have 4 almost brand new ones on my older set of alloys. Are yours 17's or 18s????

205 sit nicely on a 7 inch rim
225 or 235 sit nicely on a 8 inch rim.

Personally don't see the point of having wider 8 inch wheels and sticking to a 205 tyre !!!!

I assume what Tabetha ment was that the wheels he is looking are are 7j, but obviously 8j are available in many makes as loads of us have them.

Thanks for the replies, I looked at loads of wheels, wanted 8J for 235's but only in 7J the ones I looked at/wanted, getting ET28, most likely.
Just think a wider tyre is defo needed especially on 2wd, but going for some R888's, as present tyres, UNIROYAL's only lasted 2500 miles!!
