Spoke to Kent Cams about this last week and they assured me as long as you use the correct retainers which they supply then you don't need to machine the head.
The chap who I spoke to was Andy on 01303 248666. Might be worth a phone call to double check.
Would also be worth knowing about any issues people have had with these in the past?

Kent Cams were very honest and told me that they were not absolutely necessary, but for an extra piece of mind and better valve control I think I'm gonna do it anyway. All I can say is that there was clear evidence of valve contact on the top of 2 of my pistons which could have been caused by various other reasons, but I would rather be safe.
By the way, I do not have any association with KC and have not used their products to date except their BD14 cams which were already fitted to my engine.
